During these unprecedented times due to COVID-19 health crisis we want to thank you for your continued support, patience and understanding as we work through some very challenging times in the Sports and Tourism Industry.
As of today March 27th our Ontario spring events and programs are scheduled to move forward as planned but rest assured that the health and safety of our program and event participants and families are of paramount importance to us here at Draftday International Athletics so we do continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 virus crisis for an schedule adjustments that may need to be made. We are in regular communication with our strategic partners, host facilities and most importantly the local Health units of our host events for their expertise, input and guidance.
Should the situation call for an event cancellation or postponement we will immediately and with full transparency reach out to Draftday participants and/or external tournament team organizers.
We encourage everyone to do your part to help “flatten the curve” and continue to execute on the basic protective measures as laid out by the "World Health Organization COVID-19 Information" so that we can resume all activities without restrictions or boundaries.
All indicators are telling us that the Sports Industry will recover quickly as it is an important piece of most social and family lifestyle and well-being.
We must say that while we certainly understand the anxiety and stresses that this virus has caused and that some are feeling, the positive and optimistic emails that we continue to receive along with the continued applications have been very uplifting and refreshing. Here is an excerpt of one application that we received today from a player who has played the last 4 years and was considering taking a spring off as he is heading into Bantam.
"Gregg, hope you and family are well in this crazy time. If possible could you add Lukas to your Regional East T1 roster? I did say he needed a break this spring but with no tryouts, playoffs or extra ice now, that is a good break and we are anxious to get back on the ice and to be busy again. I realize you are also in a holding pattern here ..........hope all gets back to normal soon. "
The challenges are complex but we at Draftday have a great deal of trust and confidence that together we will get through these trying times and we wish you safety and good health as we all navigate through these challenges.
We will continue to release additional statements on a weekly basis (every Friday)
In an effort to be fully transparent with you we felt it only fair and reasonable to provide Draftday International Event customers the Legacy updates as the event decisions (which are completely out of our hands) directly affect you our valued customers. Once we have some definitive answers from Legacy in regards to cancelations or postponements we will be able to offer you concrete options as per our refund policy. For now we are in a holding pattern waiting on Legacy as they navigate through some challenging times.
Coaches, Parents and Players,
Over the past few months, we have been actively monitoring the ever-changing characteristics of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). During this time, our primary concern has been the health and wellbeing of our athletes, families and staff.
The team at Legacy has not been immune to the current economic climate; we too, have experienced furloughs and limited staffing that has impacted our efforts across the board. At this time, we are nearing decisions regarding the postponement of the European tours, and will have concrete information concerning credits and refund policies soon as we work through this unprecedented situation. Our intention is that any funds you've paid will be eligible for a full credit towards future events. We're still working through how to maximize the net refund value for any circumstances where a credit to a future event doesn't work.
We certainly appreciate your patience and understand the challenging times we're all experiencing at the moment. Legacy prides itself on impacting lives and developing leaders, especially in the face of adversity. We are confident that even in trying times like these, a conclusion will be reached that works for all parties involved.
Please stay safe and be well during this unprecedented time. We look forward to seeing you soon.
The Team at Legacy Global Sports
To our valued athletes and families,
First and foremost, we'd like to extend our thoughts and well wishes to you and your family as we all grapple with the life changes that we've all been asked to make as the COVID-19 virus continues to disrupt many facets of our personal and professional lives. We have parents that are doctors, grocery-store workers, public servants, postal employees, and other front-line impacted professionals and we extend our gratitude to your commitment to the broader health and safety of all of us.
Our business is sports - and there is perhaps no more social activity than sports. We continue to monitor the ongoing travel restrictions, social distancing recommendations, and in some cases States' requirements to remain home for all non-essential personnel.
Our intention is to provide you and your families with world class hockey experiences and tours, and our commitment to that has not wavered. Up until this week we were actively location-scouting for tour replacements but have asked our employees to remain home for the health and safety of their families and those around them. However, we continue to work across the board to reschedule the tours we postponed.
Many of you have reached out to express your support of our organization and a desire to continue with us on future rescheduled tours and we thank you for that.
We also recognize that many families plans were based on specific weeks and specific locations and we're working with our hotels, airline partners, ground transportation partners, facilities, and others to defer the financial impact of cancellations and postponements. We don't anticipate being part of any governmental bail-out or support package, and corporate insurance specifically excludes pandemics with respect to filing claims. This is the most unprecedented business interruption our company, and sports in general, has faced and we continue to work on recouping costs. We ask for your continued patience and support as we wrap our arms around the situation and will have a specific option for folks that prefer to cancel in next week's update.
We wish you and your family continued health and we look forward to providing you with unparalleled experiences both later this year, and years to come.
